How to Read and Interpret the Flight Schedules

Current UTC:   (M/DD hh:mm:ss)

What's in the Flight Schedules list?

The list contains ALL flights for ALL IYP-VA aircraft. Obviously, this list (taken August 4, 2011) will be growing exponentially over the next few weeks and months.

Departures times are displayed in BOTH UTC and Local times

Departures times are displayed in BOTH UTC and Local times. You'll note however, that the list is ordered by UTC time. Therefore, when checking flight departure times, it is recommended that you compare the Flight's UTC time to the "real-time" current UTC time, conveniently located at the top of the page.

Let's Examine the C208B with the Canadian Registration Number C-IYPP

Below is a SAMPLE static list, wherein I have highlighted the day in the life of the IYP-VA Cessna 208B aircraft with the Canadian Registration (Tail) Number of... C-IYPP.

This SAMPLE snapshot was taken at...

Current UTC: 08/04 14:57:04 (M/DD hh:mm:ss)

You'll note that C-IYPP spends its nights in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, and its first flight of the day (Flight Number 706) takes place at 6:30 AM local time... or, 13:30 UTC. The aircraft flies from Kamloops to Kelowna (1), Kelowna to Abbotsford (2), Abbotsford to Victoria (3), Victoria to Comox (4), Comox to Abbotsford (5), Abootsford to Kelowna (6), and ends up back in Kamloops (7) later that evening. You'll also note that flights with a destination airport located between 0 to 179 degress are EVENLY numbered; oddly enough, flights with a destination airport located between 180 to 359 degress are ODDLY numbered.

Looking at the Status (ST) column in the List of Flights...

Once again using our example case with IYP-VA C-IYPP, you'll note that Flight Number 706 (#1 in the list above) has already taken place because its scheduled departure time is 13:30 UTC, and it is currently 14:57:04 UTC in our static sample clock above. Thus, there is NO COLOURED DOT in the ST (Status) column. Actually, since the aircraft C-IYPP is currently in flight, there's a RED DOT next to Flight Number 701 (#2 in the list above).

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

EVERY aircraft MUST have a DOT in the Flight Schedules list IF it has a scheduled flight within the next 24 hours! Think about it......... hmmmmmmmmm........

NEXT SCHEDULED  – This indicates the NEXT flights for these particular aircraft. These aircraft are sitting at the indicated departure airport, but it is too early for pilots to grab them in the IYP application. This gives pilots time to review what flights will become available for them to fly that are one hour (or less) before the indicated UTC and Local departure times.

NOW AVAILABLE  – One hour before Departure, planes that were NEXT SCHEDULED become available for pilots to captain.

 ALREADY TAKEN  – Is self-explanatory.
